Jonah 4
Paul finishes Ephesians with this section so that we would take the devil seriously.
That we – St Nic’s Rockingham - would know we are in a real, viscous, spiritual war.
We can’t see this war – but we feel its blows.
We’re not threatened with bombs – but this war threatens to knock us off our feet – as we seek to live for Jesus.
The battle scars are wrecked lives, broken marriages, split churches and Christians giving-up on Jesus.
… or just sliding back into the old pre-Jesus life.
So why don’t we take it seriously?
We take the threat of job redundancy or our health seriously. But not the devil.
One preacher said: “We think of the world not as a battleground, but a playground”
This passage is in the bible so that we would know we live in a battleground, take the devil seriously and stand firm.
